It’s been a strange year. I wonder which of my tracks and albums have caught your ears.
Listen
As the year winds down, I’m looking back at what you have been streaming from my releases. It is quite a mixed bag, so follow along if you will.
I pooled the statistics for the year from multiple streaming platforms. Some have really helpful tools for recording artists like me. Others? Not so much. So here’s the best I could gather.
At number 10
The 10th most heard track was one that I released on New Years Day: Digging My Way Out. The track was “Just A Spoonful”.
The 10th most-heard album was a collection of piano improvisations called, No Manuscript. You can learn more about that album and hear those tracks in this blog post.
Similarly, the 9th most listened to track was “Aunt Is A Patient” from a suite of instrumentals named Dreamstate: Lucid Dreaming. Meanwhile, 9th on the list for albums was another set of piano improvisations: Characters. Thanks to all the Apple Music listeners who boosted this one.
Eight and beyond
Returning to popularity this year was the track from Dream This that I recorded with my spouse: “Dance This”. Check it out. In eighth place among my albums was DreamState: Awakening. I’m really proud of this album series, so I’m glad to see it still making waves with you.
In seventh place among singles was “Fluff Your Stuff” from Ritüel Kaçış (Ritual Escape). Below is the music video for this track. Matching this place among albums was Healing Melodies. This was truly my journey to recover from a broken ankle in 2024. Check it out if you haven’t already.
Next up was 6th place. Here, we find another song from Dream This named “Love Is On Repeat”. This track made a resurgence this year and so did the whole album which was in the sixth spot among my collective releases.
Halfway there
Fifth up was “Blessed Love” (music video below) from Love’s Shifting Nature and the album Ritual Escape. You already heard “Fluff Your Stuff from that album (above at 7th place).
In the fourth spot, you listened to “Bandura and Sopilka” which I wrote in response to the invasion of the Ukraine. It’s difficult to think of how long that war has been raging. By contrast, The Piano In The Dining Room was the 4th place album.
Next up, you listened third most to “Opt-In” from Dream This and In Memory of Tom in the album column. Thanks for listening and thanks for caring enough to opt-in.
Final stretch
In the second most-heard spot comes “Nearly Awake”. This is another track from the DreamState series — this time from DreamState: Liminal Space.
On the album side of the 2nd slot I found Our Home. This piano improvisation suite is close to my heart in so many ways. I was (and am) inspired by my spouse and this one is also connected with our literal home.
But the most listened to track for 2025 was another piano improvisation: “Answer (Jaydn, opus 26)”. This is the most recent track and first single for this series. Again, thanks for listening.
And the top listened to album was tried and true Old Hymns for a New Age. It’s amazing that this first album of piano improvisations by me is still so popular.
It’s you
Truly, you are one of the primary reasons I keep making music. Thanks for listening and looking forward to making the future we want to see.
