Songs of Dreams
Dreams say what they mean, but they don’t say it in daytime language. ~ Gail Godwin
I’ve certainly had my share of dreams over the years and this song project has become one of those. Plus, it’s one that is becoming a reality. My hope is that this dream coming true will offer inspiration for making our world a better place. If it is not, it is a waste of my time and yours.
I had a dream I was awake and I woke up to find myself asleep. ~ Stan Laurel
There are many different sorts of dreams. But, not all of them should come true. Unfortunately, some of those do become reality anyway.
The images that come to us while we sleep are from deep in the psyche. This mythical imagery is best taken symbolically (rather than literally). It’s our ability to awaken and integrate the thoughts of our conscious mind with the subconscious that allows us to excel, transform, and progress.
In a dream you are never eighty. ~ Anne Sexton
Taken at face value, the chorus of this song talks about dreams. We all have them and we can do no wrong in our dreams.
Our truest life is when we are in dreams awake. ~ Henry David Thoreau
Dreams digest the meals that are our days. ~ Terri Guillemets
It’s the verses that — rather sarcastically — question whether all that comes to us in our sleep is really worthy of making a reality. Once we wake up, things look different. And it’s important to awaken. Most of you know what I mean by that: we need to be alive to what’s real and good. Meanwhile, greed and self-absorption seem to be rampant. That doesn’t mean we should fall prey to them.
All that we see or seem is but a dream within a dream. ~ Edgar Allan Poe
Clearly, we must care for ourselves. Without this self-care, we will not be able to make the world a better place. Beyond this, we need to have an eye towards caring for each other and the natural world. This is one aspect of what can set us apart as the human race. I hope you’ll join me in making this a reality.
A dream you dream alone is only a dream. A dream you dream together is reality. ~ John Lennon
I see you already do. Thanks for that.
Thanks to my friends for encouraging me to continue with this song and series.
