New Movement

New Movement – an #improv #poem

Pressing into life like
A warm mug on fresh-fallen snow,
My present life is making a deep
Impression on me.
I am composing a new movement
To this suite,
The sort that
Can rarely be played solo.
Humans need duets
And occasional quartets
Or small ensembles
To show that the
Harmony written
Is more than imaginary.

(It’s true that I cherish
The imagination.
But it only gets one so far.
Then, we need the reality check
Of connecting with other beings.
And finding the “right” other
Is even better.)

New MovementI hear your part,
Created spontaneously and
From your own heart.
It melds and interplays with
My voice.
At first we shift and sway
In concert with the rhythm
We make.
Then, eyes closed,
We hold each other’s hands;
Feeling the warmth of the
New day flowing in each
Sweet pulse
(New movement).
