Sweat
pours down my forehead
and drips, coolly, first
to the pockets around my nose
and then onto the desk
in front of me.
It’s a “good sweat“:
the kind where I know
that I’ve accomplished
what I set out to do;
where (even if the
next step is not clear)
my body/spirit
is stirred with the
life-giving flow of blood
and oxygen;
Where muscle and bone —
drenched in their own
juicy sensations of joy —
are at the ready;
each vessel, joint, and
cell is ready to join as one
In the dance of joy.
Nothing in particular to be
joyous about. Just the knowing
that I am alive and that these
sensations are signs that I’m
Not even close to dead yet,
however soon or unexpectedly
that moment might come.
That’s why this moment is
so blissful:
I am in love. And not
in the old way of being
in love with someone or
some thing.
It is only this moment,
this divinity,
this humanness,
this aliveness,
and yes,
this sweat.
