#Poem – fourth heartspace

hand-drawn heartDo hearts open and
Close like the yapping
Mouths of adults who
Are self-absorbed with
Their own mundanities?

Or is the heart’s opening
Like the bloom of a flower —
More of a once-and-for-all
Or at least until some wise
Child beholds its beauty
And presses it (folded
Carefully between pages
In what is to her a gigantic
Book) to preserve
Its memory long after
Its purpose is fulfilled?

  1. I believe you have touched on something wonderful here. I just had a thought in my meditation yesterday about the blooming heart. What causes my heart to bloom? And pictured like a rosebud transforming into a large bloomed rose. So amazing your words are here and thank you for a beautiful analogy that too, posed a question. Love it!!

    1. Dear Desirée,

Thanks so much. The thing we call a “heart” is definitely a source of both contentment and transformation. I really appreciate you noticing the poem.
Enjoying browsing your blog, as well!

      Playful blessings,
      Stan
