Portland poem – Filtered Light

Filtered light streams steadily
Into the bedroom,
Its soft beams
A steady reminder:

Illuminating the way
Dreams are remembered,
And how coffee sipped with a lover
On the cusp of New Years morning
Declares, silently
All things are possible.

After all these years
I have finally let this gentle glow
Cast light where
Shadows once loomed;
Shining, at last,
To show that this heart is not
So much broken as
Simply open.
