This post is mostly for people in the United State of America. I wonder if it may apply to other countries, too.
The Importance of Voting
Vote like your life depends on it.
Vote like the life of someone you love depends on it.
Vote like democracy depends on it.
The Incredible Lightness of Choice
In fact, these are just a few of the things that are depending on your vote this year. More than any election I can remember, the very fiber of our country is at stake.
Do we want to be a land of hate, lies, and vitriol? Or do we want to be a place of hope and understanding. I know which one I’m choosing and hope you’ll join me.
So many people voted prior to “election day” this year. That seems incredibly healthy and suggests that we really do want democracy to succeed. Let’s hope that trend continues.
Play for the Vote

This year, as a way of expressing solidarity with other voters and offering a sense of calm, I am taking part in “Play for the Vote”. This organization has been encouraging musicians to play live, acoustic music at polling places.
Obviously, we cannot try to sway voters. So close to the polls, that would be a violation of Federal law — not to mention downright sneaky. So, all we do is offer music to the people coming to vote.
May we find our way to justice, peace, and a deeper understanding of each other.
