When You Fall

A poem and photos of the waterfall that inspired it

When you fall, it's a good thing. No one complains or fears for your safety. Your falling is beautiful.

All day long, humans flock to behold you. Curious, camera-happy, they fill parking lots and trek to see you.

But at night, the humans are gone. Still, there you fall; steady and stalwart. A sentinel of the forest, cascading night magic.

With that magic, you spread the joy of your falling. And with it you carry sustenance of many kinds.

Yes, you are a bringer of magic, mood, memory, and life. Your falling is beautiful.

Yes, you are a bringer of life. And your falling is beautiful.
