I have heartburn and what I mean by that
is that my heart is breaking
thinking of the relationships
I have betrayed over the years
(And continue to betray)
with whatever level of intention
or unintentionality
I have brought to them
Creativity at its best is a matter of following and leading. I learned about “following and leading” from InterPlay where this is one of the basic forms or practices. The rules are simple enough: participants chose to either follow or lead at any given moment. When leading, I initiate. I start from nothing. When [...]
Last night, an awesome group of people (that I get to “play” with almost every week) were part of an incredible Samhain celebration at Columcille Megalith Park. Each of them — Anita, Brad, Brian, Heidi, Jill, Patti, [...]
Sunday was my birthday. I could have chosen to make it special by doing something completely different from normal. So, I did and I didn’t.
First sight upon waking on my birthday, was a beautiful woman in my bed. (I have the good fortune of being married to her.) I started my morning off in [...]
There are ever-expanding
Circles that I am part of.
Some encompass just you and me.
Others? The whole race.
I long to be part of that more
Giant whole and often sense
The grace in that.
Other times, that global circle
Is too much abstraction and

What happens when
A heart is filled
With longing
But its object
Is nowhere
To be found?

“We cannot change anything until we accept it. Condemnation does not liberate, it oppresses.” ~ Carl Jung
When warm
(Or even temporate)
Rain raps on the roof,
It provides a reassuring
Rhythm that soothes.
When Winter-chilled rain
Taps it’s icy fingers on
Window panes,
It does not soothe nor
Reassure.

dragonflies are a lover’s best friend
they do not pursue one another with that
bashful fear we often see in humans
they go after each other with playful glee
and do not stop until they are attached
one to the other

The butterfly effect.
I step out of my door early in the morning
And choose to let my foot drop to the ground
Where it will.
Today, that footfall happens to be on a small
Creature, barely visible if I had taken the time
To look there and notice it.

muse and music for the present moment
I look for ways to re-invigorate our human experience of life. I want us to drink up every moment with enlivening spontaneity. One of the ways I do this is with improvisation -- especially improvised music. With voice, guitar, percussion, piano (keyboards) and friends, I develop "in the moment" creations. I also play classical and pop music for the vast joy it brings to know the composers and songwriters of the past and present through their music.
gigs coming up…
