Poem 0187 – Rush
Rapids rush downstream, much as a life
Does.
Fleeting and flowing at each different
Turn.
Neither fleet nor flow pauses much
Except
When it gets caught in the boundaried edges of
Channel
And shore.
There, it swarms in eddies of swirl and
Even
Backwards currents.
No longer — for the moment –
Hurling
And hurtling
Itself towards its own rapid
End.
The experienced guide knows these eddies as a
True
Friend
And seeks them out
Whenever trouble or delight cross the
Ravine,
Giving the invitation to
Wait and
Watch.

muse and music for the present moment
I look for ways to re-invigorate our human experience of life. I want us to drink up every moment with enlivening spontaneity. One of the ways I do this is with improvisation -- especially improvised music. With voice, guitar, percussion, piano (keyboards) and friends, I develop "in the moment" creations. I also play classical and pop music for the vast joy it brings to know the composers and songwriters of the past and present through their music.
